{"doi":"10.1063/1.1674108","title":"Raman Spectrum of Graphite","abstract":"
Raman spectra are reported from single crystals of graphite and other graphite materials. Single crystals of graphite show one single line at 1575 cm−1. For the other materials like stress-annealed pyrolitic graphite, commercial graphites, activated charcoal, lampblack, and vitreous carbon another line is detected at 1355 cm−1. The Raman intensity of this band is inversely proportional to the crystallite size and is caused by a breakdown of the k-selection rule. The intensity of this band allows an estimate of the crystallite size in the surface layer of any carbon sample. Two in-plane force constants are calculated from the frequencies.
","journal":"The Journal of Chemical Physics","year":1970,"id":3938,"datarank":29.95199596602382,"base_score":9.259035293514941,"endowment":9.259035293514941,"self_citation_contribution":1.3888552940272414,"citation_network_contribution":28.563140671996578,"self_endowment_contribution":1.3888552940272414,"citer_contribution":28.563140671996578,"corpus_percentile":98.9,"corpus_rank":790,"citation_count":10498,"citer_count":200,"citers_with_citation_signal":200,"citers_with_endowment":200,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"has_version_chain":false,"published_date":"1970-08-01","authors":[{"id":39817,"name":"J.
