Mice with segmental trisomy 16 (Ts65Dn mice) are at dosage imbalance for genes corresponding to those on human chromosome 21q21-22.3--which includes the so-called DS 'critical region'. They do not show early-onset of Alzheimer disease pathology; however, Ts65Dn mice do demonstrate impaired performance in a complex learning task requiring the integration of visual and spatial information. The reproducibility of this phenotype among Ts65Dn mice indicates that dosage imbalance for a gene or genes in this region contributes to this impairment. The corresponding dosage imbalance for the human homologues of these genes may contribute to cognitive deficits in DS.","is_dataset_classified":null,"base_score":6.823286122355687,"endowment":6.823286122355687,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"7550346","pmcid":null,"openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W2084233122","authors":[],"funders":[{"funder_name":"NICHD NIH HHS","grant_id":"HD13131","title":null},{"funder_name":"NICHD NIH HHS","grant_id":"HD24605","title":null},{"funder_name":"NHGRI NIH HHS","grant_id":"HG00405","title":null}],"total_grants":3,"fwci":28.7751,"citation_percentile":0.99773243,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[{"year":2012,"count":46},{"year":2013,"count":41},{"year":2014,"count":37},{"year":2015,"count":36},{"year":2016,"count":32},{"year":2017,"count":38},{"year":2018,"count":30},{"year":2019,"count":32},{"year":2020,"count":32},{"year":2021,"count":35},{"year":2022,"count":39},{"year":2023,"count":26},{"year":2024,"count":36},{"year":2025,"count":20},{"year":2026,"count":10}],"oa_status":"closed","license":"http://www.springer.com/tdm","oa_locations":[{"url":"http://www.nature.com/articles/ng1095-177","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"http://www.nature.com/articles/ng1095-177.pdf","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://doi.org/10.1038/ng1095-177","host_type":"journal"},{"url":"https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/7550346","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://ora.ox.ac.uk/objects/uuid:25bd558e-7dd4-4e44-8810-6e3241c7ae32","host_type":"repository"}],"fields_of_study":["Down syndrome and intellectual disability research","Alzheimer's disease research and treatments","Signaling Pathways in Disease","Alzheimer Disease","Amyloid beta-Peptides","Analysis of Variance","Animals","Chromosome Mapping","Chromosomes, Human, Pair 21","Disease Models, Animal","Down Syndrome","Female","Gene Expression","Humans","Learning","Male","Mice","Mice, Inbred C3H","Mice, Inbred C57BL","Mice, Neurologic Mutants","Motor Activity","Sex Characteristics"],"mesh_terms":["Alzheimer Disease","Analysis of Variance","Animals","Chromosome Mapping","Chromosomes, Human, Pair 21","Disease Models, Animal","Down Syndrome","Female","Humans","Learning","Male","Mice, Inbred C3H","Mice, Inbred C57BL","Mice, Neurologic Mutants","Motor Activity","Sex Characteristics","Gene Expression","Amyloid beta-Peptides","Mice"],"keywords":["Trisomy","Down syndrome","Chromosome 21","Biology","Phenotype","Gene","Disease","Gene dosage","Chromosome","Cognition","Genetics","Human disease","Neuroscience","Pathology","Gene expression","Medicine"],"sdg_mappings":[{"sdg_number":0,"sdg_label":"Quality Education"}],"linked_datasets":[],"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"database_accessions":[],"source":"live","citation_network_status":"fetched"},"created_at":"2026-07-30T01:59:26.381624Z","pmid":null,"pmcid":null,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"oa_status":null,"license":null,"views":0,"total_file_size_bytes":0,"version_count":0,"fair_f":null,"fair_a":null,"fair_i":null,"fair_r":null,"fair_zscore":null,"fair_rationale":null,"fair_model":null,"fair_agent_version":null,"fair_fulltext_source":null,"fair_has_llm":null,"fair_computed_at":null,"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"db_accessions":[],"linked_datasets":[],"topics":[]}
