{"doi":"10.1037/aap0000407","title":"“We had no better choice”: Early and prolonged parent–child separation in Chinese immigrant families.","abstract":"= 142), we identified common reasons for separation, including involuntary reasons (e.g., financial difficulties and lack of child-rearing time) and voluntary reasons (e.g., building bonds with Chinese culture). In addition, we used thematic analysis for the 24 parent-child dyad interviews and explored the impact of early and prolonged parent-child separation (i.e., benefits and costs) perceived by the youth and their primary caregivers. Benefits of separation included improved financial and living situations and enhanced bonding with cultural origins. Costs they perceived included impaired relationships within nuclear families, substitute caregivers spoiling children, and introducing language barriers. These findings shed light on the development of policies and initiatives aiming to support Chinese immigrant families pre- and postseparation.","journal":"Asian American Journal of Psychology","year":2025,"id":535764,"datarank":0.0,"base_score":0.0,"endowment":0.0,"self_citation_contribution":0.0,"citation_network_contribution":0.0,"self_endowment_contribution":0.0,"citer_contribution":0.0,"corpus_percentile":null,"corpus_rank":null,"citation_count":2,"citer_count":0,"citers_with_citation_signal":0,"citers_with_endowment":0,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"is_dataset":false,"is_dataset_confidence":0.941,"is_data_producer":false,"deposit_databanks":null,"is_oa":true,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"has_version_chain":false,"published_date":"2025-01-01","fair_score":null,"fair_percentile":null,"algorithm_id":"datarank_citation_only_1hop_v6","ranking_scope":"data_only","authors":[{"id":1419945,"name":"Yinbo Wu","orcid":"0000-0002-5386-9071","position":1,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":1419946,"name":"Xihan Yang","orcid":"0000-0003-0684-3781","position":2,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":1290902,"name":"Shaobing Su","orcid":"0000-0002-0404-4348","position":3,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":1419944,"name":"R.
