{"doi":"10.1029/96gl01789","title":"Anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility of magnetically oriented rock powders","abstract":"
To estimate the maximum magnetic anisotropy of the ensemble of magnetic carriers present in a rock, we measured the Anisotropy of Magnetic low field Susceptibility (AMS) of magnetically oriented rock powder. We studied basaltic rock (Chaîne des Puys, Massif Central France) and metasediments (Coffs Harbour, Australia). In the basaltic powder, PSD titanomagnetites show maximum anisotropy of L ≈ 1.16. In the metasediments, the foliation anisotropy is constant (F ≈ 1.3) controlled by iron‐bearing phyllosilicates. The linear anisotropy goes up to L ≈ 2 in pyrrhotite bearing rocks. In contrast, magnetite bearing samples show low linear anisotropy (L < 1.1).
","journal":"Geophysical Research Letters","year":1996,"id":43707,"datarank":0.2863653424868733,"base_score":1.791759469228055,"endowment":1.791759469228055,"self_citation_contribution":0.26876392038420827,"citation_network_contribution":0.017601422102665,"self_endowment_contribution":0.26876392038420827,"citer_contribution":0.017601422102665,"corpus_percentile":null,"corpus_rank":null,"citation_count":5,"citer_count":1,"citers_with_citation_signal":1,"citers_with_endowment":1,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"is_dataset":false,"is_dataset_confidence":null,"is_data_producer":false,"deposit_databanks":null,"is_oa":false,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"has_version_chain":false,"published_date":null,"fair_score":null,"fair_percentile":null,"algorithm_id":"datarank_citation_only_1hop_v6","ranking_scope":"data_only","authors":[{"id":207088,"name":"H.
