{"doi":"10.1017/s0016756800076299","title":"The Age of the Reef-Limestones in the Lower Carboniferous of North Derbyshire","abstract":"<jats:p>Shirley and Horsfield (1940) in describing the Carboniferous Limestone of the Castleton-Bradwell area in North Derbyshire submitted evidence that the richly fossiliferous rocks of B<jats:sub>2</jats:sub> age, the “Castleton reef knoll limestones lie with strong unconformity on the D<jats:sub>1</jats:sub>-D<jats:sub>2</jats:sub> limestones, being piled against steep slopes or cliffs of Mid-Carboniferous age of at least 550 feet.
