Instead, ca. 16,000 CB665 [unc-58(e665)] one- to four-cell embryos of the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans were hand selected and exposed to ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS) for 50min. Twenty-one reversion mutants were recovered, of which 17 were intragenic suppressors of the e665 mutation. The mutation frequency was 6.5-fold higher than when CB665 adults were similarly mutagenized, which was predicted given that cell-cycle checkpoints are muted in C. elegans embryos. The mutation spectrum was similar to that obtained after standard EMS mutagenesis.","is_dataset_classified":null,"base_score":1.9459101490553132,"endowment":1.9459101490553132,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"25847271","pmcid":null,"openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W2017760913","authors":[],"funders":[{"funder_name":"National Institutes of Health","grant_id":"P40 OD010440","title":null}],"total_grants":1,"fwci":0.2098,"citation_percentile":0.45142525,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[{"year":2015,"count":1},{"year":2017,"count":1},{"year":2021,"count":1},{"year":2022,"count":2},{"year":2025,"count":1}],"oa_status":"closed","license":"https://doi.org/10.15223/policy-004","oa_locations":[{"url":"https://api.elsevier.com/content/article/PII:S0027510714001067?httpAccept=text/xml","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://api.elsevier.com/content/article/PII:S0027510714001067?httpAccept=text/plain","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://doi.org/10.1016/j.mrfmmm.2014.05.011","host_type":"journal"},{"url":"https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25847271","host_type":"repository"}],"fields_of_study":["Genetics, Aging, and Longevity in Model Organisms","CRISPR and Genetic Engineering","DNA Repair Mechanisms","Animals","Animals, Genetically Modified","Caenorhabditis elegans","DNA Damage","DNA Mutational Analysis","Embryo, Nonmammalian","Ethyl Methanesulfonate","Gene Frequency","Mutagenesis","Mutagens","Mutation"],"mesh_terms":["Animals","DNA Damage","DNA Mutational Analysis","Embryo, Nonmammalian","Ethyl Methanesulfonate","Gene Frequency","Mutagens","Mutation","Mutagenesis","Caenorhabditis elegans","Animals, Genetically Modified"],"keywords":["Ethyl methanesulfonate","Caenorhabditis elegans","Mutagenesis","Reversion","Biology","Genetics","Mutant","Mutation","Mutagen","Mutation frequency","Embryo","Methyl methanesulfonate","Molecular biology","Phenotype","Gene","DNA","C.
