{"doi":"10.1016/j.jsxm.2020.01.010","title":"Unwinding Fibrosis in Peyronie's Disease","abstract":"A PubMed search of articles with “Peyronie's disease” in the title from 1968—when Williams and Thomas submitted their landmark article on the natural history of the disorder—through today provides 2,264 results. By adding the term “genetics” and narrowing the search, only 64 of those articles remain. Despite the signs and symptoms of Peyronie's disease (PD) being well-documented in medical literature for nearly 3 centuries, elucidation of the underlying pathophysiologic processes that lead to the characteristic penile curvature has occurred only over the past few decades.
