{"doi":"10.1016/j.jdcr.2024.09.012","title":"Maggot magic: Unveiling the superpowers of larval therapy in malignant wound management","abstract":"Chronic wounds affect about 2% of the US population, with a prevalence of 3% in those aged ≥65 years.1 Malignant wounds represent a subtype of chronic wounds that is seen in about 5% to 14% of patients with advanced stages of cancer.2,3 Infiltration of malignant cells into the skin, either via metastasis or direct extension from an underlying tumor, lead to oftentimes large, fungating wounds.
