Type D personality as a significant predictor of negative psychological status. However, the relationship with post-stroke depression (PSD) is still unclear.
Methods
A prospective observational study of 533 patients with first-ever ischemic stroke was conducted between November 2020 and March 2021. Type D personality was assessed at baseline. The presence of depression was measured 3-month after discharge.
Results
During 3-month follow-up, a total of 141 patients developed PSD. On multivariate logistic analysis, the main effect of negative affectivity (OR = 1.28, 95%CI = 1.03-1.61, p = 0.030) and social inhibition (OR = 1.25, 95%CI = 1.01-1.54, p = 0.039) showed significant correlation with PSD when Type D analyzed as continuous variables. Furthermore, positive effects were found for the negative affectivity and social inhibition interaction (OR = 1.31, 95 % CI =1.11-1.55, p = 0.001) on PSD.
Conclusions
Our findings suggest that Type D personality is high risk group of PSD. These findings highlight the importance of personalized interventions management in Type D individuals.","is_dataset_classified":null,"base_score":2.1972245773362196,"endowment":2.1972245773362196,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"37086794","pmcid":null,"openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W4366608999","authors":[],"funders":[{"funder_name":"Heilongjiang Provincial Postdoctoral Science Foundation","grant_id":"LBH-Z21182","title":null},{"funder_name":"National Natural Science Foundation of China","grant_id":"32200895","title":null},{"funder_name":"China Postdoctoral Science Foundation","grant_id":"2021M701023","title":null}],"total_grants":3,"fwci":0.9672,"citation_percentile":0.7592872,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[{"year":2024,"count":2},{"year":2025,"count":3},{"year":2026,"count":3}],"oa_status":"closed","license":"https://doi.org/10.15223/policy-004","oa_locations":[{"url":"https://api.elsevier.com/content/article/PII:S0165032723005256?httpAccept=text/xml","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://api.elsevier.com/content/article/PII:S0165032723005256?httpAccept=text/plain","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jad.2023.04.064","host_type":"journal"},{"url":"https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37086794","host_type":"repository"}],"fields_of_study":["Stroke Rehabilitation and Recovery","Cardiac Health and Mental Health","Acute Ischemic Stroke Management"],"mesh_terms":["Ischemic Stroke","Depression","Humans","Prognosis","Risk Factors","Stroke","Type D Personality"],"keywords":["Type D personality","Negative affectivity","Depression (economics)","Post-stroke depression","Stroke (engine)","Internal medicine","Personality","Observational study","Positive affectivity","Psychology","Logistic regression","Social inhibition","Psychological intervention","Risk factor","Clinical psychology","Medicine","Psychiatry","Anxiety","Prognosis","Ischemic stroke"],"sdg_mappings":[],"linked_datasets":[],"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"database_accessions":[],"source":"live","citation_network_status":"fetched"},"created_at":"2026-08-02T13:24:40.973314Z","pmid":null,"pmcid":null,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"oa_status":null,"license":null,"views":0,"total_file_size_bytes":0,"version_count":0,"fair_f":null,"fair_a":null,"fair_i":null,"fair_r":null,"fair_zscore":null,"fair_rationale":null,"fair_model":null,"fair_agent_version":null,"fair_fulltext_source":null,"fair_has_llm":null,"fair_computed_at":null,"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"db_accessions":[],"linked_datasets":[],"topics":[]}
