{"doi":"10.1016/j.ijid.2020.08.048","title":"Diagnostic yield of repeat testing for SARS-CoV-2: Experience from a large health system in Los Angeles","abstract":"OBJECTIVE: To determine the diagnostic yield of repeat testing for SARS-CoV-2. METHODS: A retrospective analysis was performed of all SARS-CoV-2 test results within the UCLA Health System between March 9th and April 29th, 2020. All patients with repeat test results were identified and those with discordant results were reviewed. RESULTS: Between March 9th and April 29th there were 10,165 SARS-CoV-2 test results, of which 630 (6.2%) were positive. Among the 904 patients with repeat test results, 808 (89.4%) were initially negative and 96 (10.6%) were initially positive. Among the 808 patients with an initial negative test, 15 (1.9%) subsequently tested positive. Eleven cases with an initial negative SARS-CoV-2 test and without a known prior positive SARS-CoV-2 test were reviewed; 6 were employed as healthcare workers and 10 were positive on the second test. CONCLUSIONS: We found a low diagnostic yield of repeat testing for SARS-CoV-2 in our health system. Repeat testing might prove useful in certain clinical scenarios, such as in healthcare workers, when symptoms develop after a negative test, and in hospitalized patients with a high clinical suspicion for COVID-19.","journal":"International Journal of Infectious Diseases","year":2020,"id":90242,"datarank":0.7964060290554045,"base_score":2.1972245773362196,"endowment":2.1972245773362196,"self_citation_contribution":0.32958368660043297,"citation_network_contribution":0.46682234245497145,"self_endowment_contribution":0.32958368660043297,"citer_contribution":0.46682234245497145,"corpus_percentile":74.73505066914211,"corpus_rank":3267,"citation_count":8,"citer_count":8,"citers_with_citation_signal":6,"citers_with_endowment":6,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"is_dataset":true,"is_dataset_confidence":0.5886,"is_data_producer":false,"deposit_databanks":null,"is_oa":true,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"has_version_chain":false,"published_date":"2020-01-01","fair_score":null,"fair_percentile":null,"algorithm_id":"datarank_citation_only_1hop_v6","ranking_scope":"data_only","authors":[{"id":285642,"name":"David Goodman‐Meza","orcid":"0000-0001-9382-3564","position":1,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":446882,"name":"Tara Vijayan","orcid":"0000-0003-1141-8261","position":2,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":455035,"name":"Shangxin Yang","orcid":"0000-0001-9991-1178","position":3,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":38135,"name":"Omai B.
