Meanwhile, aging was a risk factor for synchronous cancer in the right colon only (odds ratio=1.05, 95% confidence interval 1.02-1.08), and in both sides of the colon (odds ratio=1.03, 95% confidence interval 1.01-1.05), but not in the left colon only (odds ratio=0.98, 95% confidence interval 0.97-1.00). In addition, patients with synchronous lesions in the right colon only tended to have adenomas in the right colon, while those with synchronous lesions in the left colon only tended to have adenomas in the left colon (each P value <0.05).
Conclusion
The risk factors and status of concurrent adenomas of synchronous cancer cases varied according to tumour location, suggesting that the colonic site susceptible to neoplasia varies according to patient characteristics.","is_dataset_classified":null,"base_score":3.332204510175204,"endowment":3.332204510175204,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"16996329","pmcid":null,"openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W2065895388","authors":[],"funders":[],"total_grants":0,"fwci":0.1923,"citation_percentile":0.59636991,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[{"year":2013,"count":3},{"year":2014,"count":2},{"year":2016,"count":3},{"year":2017,"count":1},{"year":2018,"count":3},{"year":2020,"count":2},{"year":2021,"count":2},{"year":2023,"count":4},{"year":2024,"count":1},{"year":2025,"count":1}],"oa_status":"closed","license":"https://www.elsevier.com/tdm/userlicense/1.0/","oa_locations":[{"url":"https://api.elsevier.com/content/article/PII:S1590865806003343?httpAccept=text/xml","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://api.elsevier.com/content/article/PII:S1590865806003343?httpAccept=text/plain","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://doi.org/10.1016/j.dld.2006.07.015","host_type":"journal"},{"url":"https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/16996329","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"http://ousar.lib.okayama-u.ac.jp/11703","host_type":"repository"}],"fields_of_study":["Multiple and Secondary Primary Cancers","Colorectal Cancer Screening and Detection","Global Cancer Incidence and Screening","Adenoma","Aged","Cecum","Colon, Ascending","Colon, Descending","Colon, Sigmoid","Colon, Transverse","Colonoscopy","Colorectal Neoplasms","Female","Humans","Male","Middle Aged","Neoplasm Staging","Neoplasms, Second Primary","Rectum"],"mesh_terms":["Adenoma","Aged","Cecum","Colonoscopy","Female","Humans","Male","Middle Aged","Neoplasm Staging","Rectum","Colon, Sigmoid","Colorectal Neoplasms","Neoplasms, Second Primary","Colon, Ascending","Colon, Descending","Colon, Transverse"],"keywords":["Odds ratio","Medicine","Colorectal cancer","Confidence interval","Internal medicine","Cancer","Risk factor","Gastroenterology","Oncology"],"sdg_mappings":[{"sdg_number":0,"sdg_label":"Good health and well-being"}],"linked_datasets":[],"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"database_accessions":[],"source":"live","citation_network_status":"fetched"},"created_at":"2026-07-30T07:08:12.052170Z","pmid":null,"pmcid":null,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"oa_status":null,"license":null,"views":0,"total_file_size_bytes":0,"version_count":0,"fair_f":null,"fair_a":null,"fair_i":null,"fair_r":null,"fair_zscore":null,"fair_rationale":null,"fair_model":null,"fair_agent_version":null,"fair_fulltext_source":null,"fair_has_llm":null,"fair_computed_at":null,"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"db_accessions":[],"linked_datasets":[],"topics":[]}
