Methods A cross-sectional analytical design was conducted among 182 IT professionals aged 20–59 years with poor sleep quality (PSQI >5). Reaction time, attention span, and physical performance were evaluated using the Ruler Drop Test, Cancellation Test, and Six-Minute Walk Test, respectively. Workstation ergonomics were assessed objectively through the OSHA-VDT Checklist. Results Younger age, being married, regular physical activity, vegetarian diet, absence of caffeine, smoking, and alcohol consumption, frequent work breaks, shorter work experience, reduced overtime hours, lower leisure screen time, and compliant workstation ergonomics positively influenced sleep quality (p < 0.05). Poorer sleep quality correlated with reduced physical performance (ρ = 0.312, p = 0.002), attention span (ρ = 0.432, p < 0.0001), and reaction time (ρ = 0.313, p < 0.0001). Workstation compliance was significantly associated with lower prevalence of low vision (χ 2 = 23.08, p < 0.0001). Conclusion Sleep quality is crucial for optimal cognitive and physical performance in IT professionals. Addressing lifestyle modifications and ergonomic interventions can significantly enhance occupational health, productivity, and well-being.","is_dataset_classified":null,"base_score":1.3862943611198906,"endowment":1.3862943611198906,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"19910364","pmcid":null,"openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W4410910587","authors":[],"funders":[],"total_grants":0,"fwci":3.4545,"citation_percentile":0.91928014,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[{"year":2026,"count":3}],"oa_status":"gold","license":"cc-by-nc-nd","oa_locations":[{"url":"https://www.ceghonline.com/action/showPdf?pii=S2213398425001708","host_type":"journal"},{"url":"https://www.ceghonline.com/action/showPdf?pii=S2213398425001708","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://api.elsevier.com/content/article/PII:S2213398425001708?httpAccept=text/xml","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://api.elsevier.com/content/article/PII:S2213398425001708?httpAccept=text/plain","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://doi.org/10.1016/j.cegh.2025.102081","host_type":"journal"},{"url":"https://doaj.org/article/0f432e6516324d61ac9f4bae89eead65","host_type":"repository"}],"fields_of_study":["Sleep and Work-Related Fatigue","Workplace Health and Well-being","Sleep and related disorders"],"mesh_terms":[],"keywords":["Cognition","Workstation","Sleep quality","Quality (philosophy)","Sleep (system call)","Psychology","Business","Applied psychology","Computer science","Psychiatry"],"sdg_mappings":[],"linked_datasets":[],"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"database_accessions":[],"source":"live","citation_network_status":"fetched"},"created_at":"2026-08-09T15:58:24.001244Z","pmid":null,"pmcid":null,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"oa_status":null,"license":null,"views":0,"total_file_size_bytes":0,"version_count":0,"fair_f":null,"fair_a":null,"fair_i":null,"fair_r":null,"fair_zscore":null,"fair_rationale":null,"fair_model":null,"fair_agent_version":null,"fair_fulltext_source":null,"fair_has_llm":null,"fair_computed_at":null,"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"db_accessions":[],"linked_datasets":[],"topics":[]}
