Following the discovery that double-stranded RNA resists condensation in solutions containing cobalt hexamine [1], we studied short double-stranded DNA, RNA and a DNA/RNA hybrid in the presence of polyamines using UV spectroscopy and small and wide angle x-ray scattering.
