Among this family, structural features distinguish the membrane-anchored ADAMs and the secreted ADAMs with thrombospondin motifs referred to as ADAMTSs. By acting on a large panel of membrane-associated and extracellular substrates, they control several cell functions such as adhesion, fusion, migration and proliferation. The current review addresses the contribution of these proteinases in the positive and negative regulation of cancer progression as mainly mediated by the regulation of growth factor activities and integrin functions.","is_dataset_classified":null,"base_score":5.58724865840025,"endowment":5.58724865840025,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"17920749","pmcid":null,"openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W1994859763","authors":[],"funders":[{"funder_name":"European Commission","grant_id":"201279","title":"Understanding and fighting metastasis by modulating the tumour microenvironment through interference with the protease network."}],"total_grants":1,"fwci":7.2215,"citation_percentile":0.97234588,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[{"year":2012,"count":16},{"year":2013,"count":16},{"year":2014,"count":17},{"year":2015,"count":21},{"year":2016,"count":19},{"year":2017,"count":15},{"year":2018,"count":16},{"year":2019,"count":9},{"year":2020,"count":15},{"year":2021,"count":11},{"year":2022,"count":12},{"year":2023,"count":12},{"year":2024,"count":4},{"year":2025,"count":10},{"year":2026,"count":3}],"oa_status":"green","license":"other-oa","oa_locations":[{"url":"https://orbi.uliege.be/handle/2268/8028","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://orbi.uliege.be/handle/2268/8028","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://api.elsevier.com/content/article/PII:S0300908407002222?httpAccept=text/xml","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://api.elsevier.com/content/article/PII:S0300908407002222?httpAccept=text/plain","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://doi.org/10.1016/j.biochi.2007.08.008","host_type":"journal"},{"url":"https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17920749","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://orbi.uliege.be/bitstream/2268/8028/1/Rocks%20biochimie%202008.pdf.pdf","host_type":""},{"url":"http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.biochi.2007.08.008","host_type":""},{"url":"https://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.biochi.2007.08.008","host_type":""},{"url":"https://hdl.handle.net/2268/8028","host_type":""}],"fields_of_study":["Protease and Inhibitor Mechanisms","Peptidase Inhibition and Analysis","Signaling Pathways in Disease","0301 basic medicine","0303 health sciences","03 medical and health sciences","ADAM Proteins","Amino Acid Motifs","Disease Progression","Humans","Neoplasms","Thrombospondins"],"mesh_terms":["Humans","Neoplasms","Disease Progression","Thrombospondins","Amino Acid Motifs","ADAM Proteins"],"keywords":["Disintegrin","Thrombospondin","ADAMTS","Matrix metalloproteinase","Metalloproteinase","Cell biology","Integrin","Extracellular matrix","Biology","Thrombospondin 1","Tumor progression","Chemistry","Angiogenesis","Cancer research","Cancer","Cell","Biochemistry","Genetics","Amino Acid Motifs","Degradome","Apoptosis","ADAM and ADAMTS proteins","Biochimie, biophysique & biologie moléculaire","Life sciences","ADAM Proteins","Neoplasms","Sciences du vivant","Disease Progression","Humans","Growth factors","Thrombospondins","Cell proliferation","Biochemistry, biophysics & molecular biology"],"sdg_mappings":[{"sdg_number":3,"sdg_label":"3.
