A meta-analytic synthesis of 10 published studies yielded positive evidence for internal consistency and convergent and discriminant validity of the scales. Participants in the present study were 129 people with a diagnosis of panic disorder. Internal consistency was excellent for this sample, α=.95 for AAC and .96 for AAL. When the MIA scales were correlated with interviewer ratings, evidence for convergent and discriminant validity for AAL was strong (convergent r with agoraphobia severity ratings=.63 vs. discriminant rs of .10-.29 for other anxiety disorders) and more modest but still positive for AAC (.54 vs. .01-.37). Receiver operating curve analysis indicated that the optimal operating point for AAL as an indicator of ADIS agoraphobia diagnosis was 1.61, which yielded sensitivity of .87 and specificity of .73.","is_dataset_classified":null,"base_score":3.9318256327243257,"endowment":3.9318256327243257,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"22035997","pmcid":"PMC3519241","openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W2077475315","authors":[],"funders":[{"funder_name":"NIMH NIH HHS","grant_id":"R01 MH 070664","title":null},{"funder_name":"NIMH NIH HHS","grant_id":"R01 MH070918","title":null}],"total_grants":2,"fwci":2.1834,"citation_percentile":0.86988881,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[{"year":2012,"count":1},{"year":2013,"count":4},{"year":2014,"count":3},{"year":2015,"count":3},{"year":2016,"count":5},{"year":2017,"count":5},{"year":2018,"count":4},{"year":2019,"count":5},{"year":2020,"count":5},{"year":2021,"count":7},{"year":2022,"count":3},{"year":2023,"count":2},{"year":2025,"count":3}],"oa_status":"closed","license":"https://www.elsevier.com/tdm/userlicense/1.0/","oa_locations":[{"url":"https://api.elsevier.com/content/article/PII:S0005789411000633?httpAccept=text/xml","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://api.elsevier.com/content/article/PII:S0005789411000633?httpAccept=text/plain","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://doi.org/10.1016/j.beth.2011.03.001","host_type":"journal"},{"url":"https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22035997","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/3519241","host_type":"repository"}],"fields_of_study":["Anxiety, Depression, Psychometrics, Treatment, Cognitive Processes","Mental Health Research Topics","Child and Adolescent Psychosocial and Emotional Development","Adult","Agoraphobia","Anxiety Disorders","Female","Humans","Male","Psychiatric Status Rating Scales","Psychometrics","Reproducibility of Results","Severity of Illness Index"],"mesh_terms":["Adult","Agoraphobia","Anxiety Disorders","Female","Humans","Male","Psychiatric Status Rating Scales","Psychometrics","Severity of Illness Index","Reproducibility of Results"],"keywords":["Agoraphobia","Discriminant validity","Convergent validity","Psychology","Clinical psychology","Anxiety","Psychometrics","Construct validity","Criterion validity","Internal consistency","Anxiety disorder","Psychiatry"],"sdg_mappings":[{"sdg_number":0,"sdg_label":"Reduced inequalities"}],"linked_datasets":[],"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"database_accessions":[],"source":"live","citation_network_status":"fetched"},"created_at":"2026-08-09T01:26:33.197205Z","pmid":null,"pmcid":null,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"oa_status":null,"license":null,"views":0,"total_file_size_bytes":0,"version_count":0,"fair_f":null,"fair_a":null,"fair_i":null,"fair_r":null,"fair_zscore":null,"fair_rationale":null,"fair_model":null,"fair_agent_version":null,"fair_fulltext_source":null,"fair_has_llm":null,"fair_computed_at":null,"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"db_accessions":[],"linked_datasets":[],"topics":[]}
