RhoA has long attracted attention as a key molecule involved in cell signaling and gene transcription, through which it affects cellular processes. A series of studies have demonstrated that RhoA plays crucial roles under both physiological states and pathological conditions in cardiovascular diseases. RhoA has been identified as an important regulator in cardiac remodeling by regulating actin stress fiber dynamics and cytoskeleton formation. However, its underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood, preventing definitive conclusions being drawn about its protective role in the cardiovascular system. In this review, we outline the characteristics of RhoA and its related signaling molecules, and present an overview of RhoA classical function and the corresponding cellular responses of RhoA under physiological and pathological conditions. Overall, we provide an update on the novel signaling under RhoA in the cardiovascular system and its potential clinical and therapeutic targets in cardiovascular medicine.","is_dataset_classified":null,"base_score":2.302585092994046,"endowment":2.302585092994046,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"37907138","pmcid":null,"openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W4388110246","authors":[],"funders":[{"funder_name":"Shiga University of Medical Science","grant_id":"","title":null}],"total_grants":1,"fwci":0.8492,"citation_percentile":0.7082115,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[{"year":2024,"count":4},{"year":2025,"count":3},{"year":2026,"count":2}],"oa_status":"hybrid","license":"cc-by-nc-nd","oa_locations":[{"url":"https://doi.org/10.1016/j.bcp.2023.115899","host_type":"journal"},{"url":"https://doi.org/10.1016/j.bcp.2023.115899","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://api.elsevier.com/content/article/PII:S0006295223004926?httpAccept=text/xml","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://api.elsevier.com/content/article/PII:S0006295223004926?httpAccept=text/plain","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37907138","host_type":"repository"}],"fields_of_study":["Protein Kinase Regulation and GTPase Signaling","Cardiac Fibrosis and Remodeling","Melanoma and MAPK Pathways","Actins","Cardiovascular System","rho GTP-Binding Proteins","rho-Associated Kinases","rhoA GTP-Binding Protein","Signal Transduction","Humans"],"mesh_terms":["Actins","Cardiovascular System","Humans","Signal Transduction","rho GTP-Binding Proteins","rhoA GTP-Binding Protein","rho-Associated Kinases"],"keywords":["RHOA","Stress fiber","Small GTPase","Cell biology","Signal transduction","Actin cytoskeleton","Biology","Regulator","Actin","Transcription factor","Cell signaling","GTPase","Cytoskeleton","Cell","Gene","Biochemistry","Focal adhesion","Endothelium","Aging","Heart","Vascular smooth muscle"],"sdg_mappings":[{"sdg_number":0,"sdg_label":"Good health and well-being"}],"linked_datasets":[],"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"database_accessions":[],"source":"live","citation_network_status":"fetched"},"created_at":"2026-07-29T12:11:42.932556Z","pmid":null,"pmcid":null,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"oa_status":null,"license":null,"views":0,"total_file_size_bytes":0,"version_count":0,"fair_f":null,"fair_a":null,"fair_i":null,"fair_r":null,"fair_zscore":null,"fair_rationale":null,"fair_model":null,"fair_agent_version":null,"fair_fulltext_source":null,"fair_has_llm":null,"fair_computed_at":null,"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"db_accessions":[],"linked_datasets":[],"topics":[]}
