A total of 25 samples of antiretroviral therapy experienced patients with no history of using protease inhibitors were collected. After RNA extraction, reverse transcriptase-nested PCR was performed. The final products were sequenced and then analysed for drug-resistant mutations and subtypes. No drug resistant mutations were observed among the 25 subjects. The results showed the following subtypes among patients: CRF 35_AD (88%), CRF 28_BF (8%), and CRF 29_BF (4%). A significant increase in drug resistance has been noted in recently-infected patients worldwide. Subtype distributions are needed to perform properly-designed surveillance studies to continuously monitor rates and patterns of transmitted drug resistance and subtypes to help guide therapeutic approaches and limit transmission of these variants.","is_dataset_classified":null,"base_score":2.70805020110221,"endowment":2.70805020110221,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"19910364","pmcid":null,"openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W2301327531","authors":[],"funders":[],"total_grants":0,"fwci":0.8578,"citation_percentile":0.72839832,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[{"year":2016,"count":2},{"year":2017,"count":1},{"year":2018,"count":1},{"year":2020,"count":1},{"year":2022,"count":1},{"year":2024,"count":8}],"oa_status":"gold","license":"cc-by-nc-nd","oa_locations":[{"url":"https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2221169116301952/pdf","host_type":"journal"},{"url":"https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2221169116301952/pdf","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"http://api.elsevier.com/content/article/PII:S2221169116301952?httpAccept=text/xml","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"http://api.elsevier.com/content/article/PII:S2221169116301952?httpAccept=text/plain","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://doi.org/10.1016/j.apjtb.2015.12.020","host_type":"journal"},{"url":"https://doaj.org/article/fd270301f9fe4298963d8a1ef05f0d89","host_type":"repository"}],"fields_of_study":["HIV/AIDS drug development and treatment","HIV Research and Treatment","HIV/AIDS Research and Interventions"],"mesh_terms":[],"keywords":["Reverse transcriptase","Drug resistance","Medicine","Drug","Virology","Protease","HIV drug resistance","Transmission (telecommunications)","Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)","Lentivirus","Gene","Biology","Polymerase chain reaction","Internal medicine","Antiretroviral therapy","Viral disease","Pharmacology","Viral load","Enzyme","Genetics"],"sdg_mappings":[{"sdg_number":0,"sdg_label":"Good health and well-being"}],"linked_datasets":[],"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"database_accessions":[],"source":"live","citation_network_status":"fetched"},"created_at":"2026-08-05T17:43:04.565454Z","pmid":null,"pmcid":null,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"oa_status":null,"license":null,"views":0,"total_file_size_bytes":0,"version_count":0,"fair_f":null,"fair_a":null,"fair_i":null,"fair_r":null,"fair_zscore":null,"fair_rationale":null,"fair_model":null,"fair_agent_version":null,"fair_fulltext_source":null,"fair_has_llm":null,"fair_computed_at":null,"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"db_accessions":[],"linked_datasets":[],"topics":[]}
