The best predictor of future opioid overdose is a previous episode, for which patients are often seen by providers in the emergency department (ED).3 Yet, there is a lack of evidence evaluating the naloxone distribution practices of this group of healthcare professionals. The purpose of this study was to determine the prescribing patterns and perceptions of take-home naloxone for high-risk opioid overdose patients amongst ED physicians.","is_dataset_classified":null,"base_score":2.995732273553991,"endowment":2.995732273553991,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"29492780","pmcid":"PMC5910359","openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W2791724068","authors":[],"funders":[{"funder_name":"National Institutes of Health","grant_id":"1U17CE002738-01","title":"OHIO PRESCRIPTION DRUG OVERDOSE PREVENTION"}],"total_grants":1,"fwci":1.5208,"citation_percentile":0.82502349,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[{"year":2019,"count":2},{"year":2020,"count":3},{"year":2021,"count":2},{"year":2022,"count":3},{"year":2023,"count":3},{"year":2024,"count":4},{"year":2025,"count":1},{"year":2026,"count":1}],"oa_status":"bronze","license":"Springer TDM","oa_locations":[{"url":"https://link.springer.com/content/pdf/10.1007/s11606-018-4353-6.pdf","host_type":"journal"},{"url":"https://link.springer.com/content/pdf/10.1007/s11606-018-4353-6.pdf","host_type":"BRONZE"},{"url":"https://link.springer.com/content/pdf/10.1007/s11606-018-4353-6.pdf","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11606-018-4353-6/fulltext.html","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"http://link.springer.com/content/pdf/10.1007/s11606-018-4353-6.pdf","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://doi.org/10.1007/s11606-018-4353-6","host_type":"journal"},{"url":"https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29492780","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/5910359","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s11606-018-4353-6","host_type":""}],"fields_of_study":["Opioid Use Disorder Treatment","Cardiac Arrest and Resuscitation","Emergency and Acute Care Studies","Medicine","03 medical and health sciences","0302 clinical medicine","Analgesics, Opioid","Attitude of Health Personnel","Cross-Sectional Studies","Drug Overdose","Emergency Service, Hospital","Humans","Naloxone","Ohio","Practice Patterns, Physicians'"],"mesh_terms":["Analgesics, Opioid","Attitude of Health Personnel","Cross-Sectional Studies","Emergency Service, Hospital","Humans","Naloxone","Ohio","Practice Patterns, Physicians'","Drug Overdose"],"keywords":["(+)-Naloxone","Medicine","Opioid overdose","Emergency department","Drug overdose","Opioid","Emergency medicine","Medical emergency","Poison control","Injury prevention","Family medicine","Psychiatry","Internal medicine","Drug abuse","Substance Abuse","Survey Research","Practice Variation","Analgesics, Opioid","Cross-Sectional Studies","Attitude of Health Personnel","Naloxone","Humans","Practice Patterns, Physicians'","Emergency Service, Hospital","Ohio"],"sdg_mappings":[{"sdg_number":3,"sdg_label":"3.
