P2X and P2Y purinergic receptors can be used as promoters and regulators of CRC and play a dual role in the progression of CRC. CRC microenvironment is rich in ATP and its cleavage products (ADP, AMP, Ado), which act as activators of P2X and P2Y purinergic receptors. The activation of P2X and P2Y purinergic receptors regulates the progression of CRC mainly by regulating the function of immune cells and mediating different signal pathways. In this paper, we focus on the specific mechanisms and functional roles of P2X7, P2Y12, and P2Y2 receptors in the growth and progression of CRC. The antagonistic effects of these selective antagonists of P2X purinergic receptors on the growth, invasion, and metastasis of CRC were further discussed. Moreover, different studies have reported that P2X7 receptor can be used as an effective predictor of patients with CRC. All these indicate that P2 purinergic receptors are a key regulator of CRC. Therefore, antagonizing P2 purinergic receptors may be an innovative treatment for CRC.","is_dataset_classified":null,"base_score":2.4849066497880004,"endowment":2.4849066497880004,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"38153612","pmcid":"PMC12454802","openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W4390341249","authors":[],"funders":[{"funder_name":"Youth Science Foundation of Jiangxi Province","grant_id":"20224BAB216030","title":null}],"total_grants":1,"fwci":1.8432,"citation_percentile":0.84724361,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[{"year":2024,"count":3},{"year":2025,"count":2},{"year":2026,"count":6}],"oa_status":"green","license":"https://www.springernature.com/gp/researchers/text-and-data-mining","oa_locations":[{"url":"https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12454802/pdf/11302_2023_Article_9983.pdf","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12454802/pdf/11302_2023_Article_9983.pdf","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://link.springer.com/content/pdf/10.1007/s11302-023-09983-6.pdf","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11302-023-09983-6/fulltext.html","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/12454802","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://doi.org/10.1007/s11302-023-09983-6","host_type":"journal"},{"url":"https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38153612","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12454802/","host_type":"repository"}],"fields_of_study":["Adenosine and Purinergic Signaling","Advanced Wireless Network Optimization","Humans","Colorectal Neoplasms","Disease Progression","Receptors, Purinergic P2","Animals"],"mesh_terms":["Animals","Humans","Colorectal Neoplasms","Receptors, Purinergic P2","Disease Progression"],"keywords":["Purinergic receptor","Purinergic signalling","Receptor","P2Y receptor","Colorectal cancer","Medicine","Biology","Cancer research","Cell biology","Internal medicine","Cancer","Adenosine receptor","Agonist","Antagonists","Treatment","P2X receptors","Crc","P2y Receptors"],"sdg_mappings":[{"sdg_number":0,"sdg_label":"Good health and well-being"}],"linked_datasets":[],"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"database_accessions":[],"source":"live","citation_network_status":"fetched"},"created_at":"2026-08-09T09:25:06.550329Z","pmid":null,"pmcid":null,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"oa_status":null,"license":null,"views":0,"total_file_size_bytes":0,"version_count":0,"fair_f":null,"fair_a":null,"fair_i":null,"fair_r":null,"fair_zscore":null,"fair_rationale":null,"fair_model":null,"fair_agent_version":null,"fair_fulltext_source":null,"fair_has_llm":null,"fair_computed_at":null,"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"db_accessions":[],"linked_datasets":[],"topics":[]}
