However, neither analyses quantify time dependency in a physical or physiological interpretable time scale. Recently, entropic half-life (ENT½) has been introduced as a measure of the time dependency on an interpretable time scale. A novel measure of time dependency, based on DFA, statistical persistence decay (SPD), was introduced. The present study applied SaEn, DFA, ENT½, and SPD in known theoretical signals (periodic, chaotic, and random) and stride-to-stride time intervals during overground and treadmill walking in healthy subjects. The analyses confirmed known properties of the theoretical signals. There was a significant lower predictability (p = 0.033) and lower statistical persistence (p = 0.012) during treadmill walking compared to overground walking. No significant difference was observed for ENT½ and SPD between walking condition, and they exhibited a low correlation. ENT½ showed that predictability in stride time intervals was halved after 11-14 strides and SPD indicated that the statistical persistency was deteriorated to uncorrelated noise after ~50 strides. This indicated a substantial time memory, where information from previous strides affected the future strides.","is_dataset_classified":null,"base_score":0.0,"endowment":0.0,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"28948419","pmcid":"PMC5756114","openalex_id":null,"authors":[],"funders":[{"funder_name":"NASA Nebraska EPSCoR and the National Institutes of Health","grant_id":"P20 GM109090","title":null},{"funder_name":"NHLBI NIH HHS","grant_id":"L30 HL129255","title":null},{"funder_name":"National Institutes of Health","grant_id":"5P20GM109090-08","title":"Harnessing Movement Variability to Treat and Prevent Motor Related Disorders"}],"total_grants":3,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[],"oa_status":"bronze","license":"Springer TDM","oa_locations":[{"url":"http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10439-017-1934-1/fulltext.html","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"http://link.springer.com/content/pdf/10.1007/s10439-017-1934-1.pdf","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://doi.org/10.1007/s10439-017-1934-1","host_type":""},{"url":"https://europepmc.org/articles/pmc5756114?pdf=render","host_type":""},{"url":"https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28948419","host_type":""},{"url":"https://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s10439-017-1934-1","host_type":""},{"url":"https://doi.org/https://doi.org/10.1007/s10439-017-1934-1","host_type":""}],"fields_of_study":["03 medical and health sciences","0302 clinical medicine"],"mesh_terms":["Humans","Walking","Entropy","Adult","Female","Male","Young Adult","Gait Analysis"],"keywords":["Dynamics","Entropy","Walking","Nonlinear Behaviour","Dfa","Stride Time Fluctuations","Adult","Male","Young Adult","Humans","Female","Gait Analysis"],"sdg_mappings":[{"sdg_number":3,"sdg_label":"3.
