Unexpectedly, C.B-17-+/+(+/+) mice also produced a similar worm burden containing well-developed worms. This is probably attributable to the observation that +/+ mice failed to induce eosinophilia in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) despite their production of antigen-specific IgA and IgGI; +/+ mice have defective bone-marrow eosinopoiesis, which in turn results in reduced blood and CSF eosinophilia. Interleukin 5 (IL-5) production in +/+ mice is similar to that in BALB/c and C57BL/6 mice. However, bone-marrow eosinopoiesis in response to IL-5 is markedly suppressed in +/+ mice. This is probably associated with impaired expression of common beta-chain mRNA in bone-marrow cells of +/+ mice, which leads to the failure of bone-marrow eosinopoiesis. Hence, +/+ mice may serve as a useful model for the elucidation of eosinophil production in the mouse and for determination of the relationship between parasite infection and the eosinophil.","is_dataset_classified":null,"base_score":1.6094379124341003,"endowment":1.6094379124341003,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"10935903","pmcid":null,"openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W1982131088","authors":[],"funders":[],"total_grants":0,"fwci":0.2718,"citation_percentile":0.56917548,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[],"oa_status":"closed","license":"http://www.springer.com/tdm","oa_locations":[{"url":"http://link.springer.com/content/pdf/10.1007/s004360000200.pdf","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s004360000200/fulltext.html","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"http://link.springer.com/content/pdf/10.1007/s004360000200","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://doi.org/10.1007/s004360000200","host_type":"journal"},{"url":"https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/10935903","host_type":"repository"}],"fields_of_study":["Parasitic Infections and Diagnostics","Mollusks and Parasites Studies","Parasitic infections in humans and animals","Angiostrongylus cantonensis","Animals","Antibodies, Helminth","Antigens, Helminth","Biomphalaria","Bone Marrow","Disease Susceptibility","Eosinophilia","Gene Expression","Interleukin-3","Interleukin-5","Leukocytes","Male","Mice","Mice, Inbred BALB C","Mice, Inbred C57BL","Mice, Nude","Mice, SCID","Morbidity","Rats","Receptors, Interleukin","Receptors, Interleukin-3","Receptors, Interleukin-5","Strongylida Infections"],"mesh_terms":["Animals","Antibodies, Helminth","Antigens, Helminth","Biomphalaria","Bone Marrow","Disease Susceptibility","Eosinophilia","Interleukin-3","Leukocytes","Male","Mice, Inbred BALB C","Mice, Inbred C57BL","Mice, Nude","Morbidity","Interleukin-5","Gene Expression","Receptors, Interleukin-3","Mice, SCID","Angiostrongylus cantonensis","Strongylida Infections","Receptors, Interleukin","Mice","Rats","Receptors, Interleukin-5"],"keywords":["Angiostrongylus cantonensis","Eosinophil","Eosinophilia","Biology","Bone marrow","Immunology","Cerebrospinal fluid","Interleukin 5","Ratón","Pathology","Interleukin","Cytokine","Helminths","Medicine"],"sdg_mappings":[{"sdg_number":0,"sdg_label":"Zero hunger"}],"linked_datasets":[],"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"database_accessions":[],"source":"live","citation_network_status":"fetched"},"created_at":"2026-08-17T16:14:27.028897Z","pmid":null,"pmcid":null,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"oa_status":null,"license":null,"views":0,"total_file_size_bytes":0,"version_count":0,"fair_f":null,"fair_a":null,"fair_i":null,"fair_r":null,"fair_zscore":null,"fair_rationale":null,"fair_model":null,"fair_agent_version":null,"fair_fulltext_source":null,"fair_has_llm":null,"fair_computed_at":null,"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"db_accessions":[],"linked_datasets":[],"topics":[]}
