Scanning electron micrographs of fetuses exposed to hypervitaminosis A in utero demonstrated both decreased head size and stunted palatal processes. The results suggest that cleft palates occur in this model system because the palatal processes are more sensitive to the actions of vitamin A than are the surrounding maxillary tissues.","is_dataset_classified":null,"base_score":1.791759469228055,"endowment":1.791759469228055,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"7319007","pmcid":null,"openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W2042198003","authors":[],"funders":[{"funder_name":"NIDCR NIH HHS","grant_id":"DE-04684","title":null}],"total_grants":1,"fwci":0.0,"citation_percentile":0.10393722,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[],"oa_status":"closed","license":"http://www.springer.com/tdm","oa_locations":[{"url":"http://link.springer.com/content/pdf/10.1007/BF01989912.pdf","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/BF01989912/fulltext.html","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"http://link.springer.com/content/pdf/10.1007/BF01989912","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://doi.org/10.1007/bf01989912","host_type":"journal"},{"url":"https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/7319007","host_type":"repository"}],"fields_of_study":["Thyroid Disorders and Treatments","Retinoids in leukemia and cellular processes"],"mesh_terms":["Animals","Cleft Palate","DNA","Female","Fetus","Growth Disorders","Maxilla","Microscopy, Electron, Scanning","Palate","Pregnancy","Vitamin A","Rats","In Vitro Techniques"],"keywords":["Hypervitaminosis A","Hypervitaminosis","In utero","Fetus","Vitamin","Biology","Anatomy","Dentistry","Retinol","Endocrinology","Medicine","Pregnancy","Genetics"],"sdg_mappings":[{"sdg_number":0,"sdg_label":"Zero hunger"}],"linked_datasets":[],"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"database_accessions":[],"source":"live","citation_network_status":"fetched"},"created_at":"2026-08-10T04:10:15.285955Z","pmid":null,"pmcid":null,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"oa_status":null,"license":null,"views":0,"total_file_size_bytes":0,"version_count":0,"fair_f":null,"fair_a":null,"fair_i":null,"fair_r":null,"fair_zscore":null,"fair_rationale":null,"fair_model":null,"fair_agent_version":null,"fair_fulltext_source":null,"fair_has_llm":null,"fair_computed_at":null,"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"db_accessions":[],"linked_datasets":[],"topics":[]}
