{"doi":"10.1007/978-3-031-58293-6","title":"Women’s Behavioral Health","abstract":"National and global studies show that women are nearly twice as likely as men to suffer from mental and substance use disorders.However, despite the increased attention in the past two decades to women's behavioral health issues (alcohol, drug abuse, and mental disorders), few texts in the medical and/or behavioral health literature can be identified which offer an extensive examination of women's behavioral health problems from a public health perspective that did not focus primarily on a clinical perspective.The 2016 workshop conducted by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, Improving the Health of Women in the United States, has drawn attention to the social, institutional, and economic determinants that result in service inequities for women with health and behavioral health disorders in the United States compared to women in other high-income countries.In addition, the framework for Healthy People 2030 includes core objectives and developmental objectives targeted to improve behavioral health.Globally, the Sustainable Development Goals have a strong focus on women's health and behavioral health.This textbook responds to this gap in the literature, providing the current state of knowledge of women's behavioral health and examining the need for behavioral health services and the effect of behavioral health disorders upon women's daily lives.The development and organization of Women's Behavioral Health: A Public Health Perspective has been influenced by our work and experiences as well as those of our colleagues in teaching, research, and community service.Our efforts culminated in the development of the Behavioral Health Concentration (BHC) at the University of South Florida (USF) College of Public Health (COPH), a collaborative teaching initiative between the USF COPH and the USF College of Behavioral & Community Sciences.The BHC is one of only a relatively few US accredited schools/colleges of public health offering a concentration or focus on alcohol, drug use, and mental disorders from a population or public health perspective.","journal":null,"year":2024,"id":452245,"datarank":0.0,"base_score":0.0,"endowment":0.0,"self_citation_contribution":0.0,"citation_network_contribution":0.0,"self_endowment_contribution":0.0,"citer_contribution":0.0,"corpus_percentile":null,"corpus_rank":null,"citation_count":2,"citer_count":0,"citers_with_citation_signal":0,"citers_with_endowment":0,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"is_dataset":false,"is_dataset_confidence":0.9509,"is_data_producer":false,"deposit_databanks":null,"is_oa":true,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"has_version_chain":false,"published_date":"2024-01-01","fair_score":null,"fair_percentile":null,"algorithm_id":"datarank_citation_only_1hop_v6","ranking_scope":"data_only","authors":[],"reference_count":0,"raw_metadata":null,"created_at":"2026-07-19T02:02:50.407779Z","pmid":null,"pmcid":null,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"oa_status":null,"license":null,"views":0,"total_file_size_bytes":0,"version_count":0,"fair_f":null,"fair_a":null,"fair_i":null,"fair_r":null,"fair_zscore":null,"fair_rationale":null,"fair_model":null,"fair_agent_version":null,"fair_fulltext_source":null,"fair_has_llm":null,"fair_computed_at":null,"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"db_accessions":[],"linked_datasets":[],"topics":[]}
