{"doi":"10.1002/wcs.1270","title":"Global disorders of consciousness","abstract":"
In recent decades there has been a great deal of interest in global disorders of consciousness, such as the vegetative state, the minimally conscious state, and epileptic absence seizures. Global disorders of consciousness pose significant challenges to consciousness science in that the ordinary pretheoretical criteria for the ascription of consciousness are not easily applied in such contexts, and it is often unclear what kinds of conscious states—if any—patients are in. At the same time, global disorders of consciousness also promise to reveal a great deal about the nature of consciousness and the relationship between consciousness and cognitive and behavioral control. WIREs Cogn Sci 2014, 5:129–138. doi: 10.1002/wcs.1270
This article is categorized under:\n\n
Philosophy > Consciousness
\n
","journal":"WIREs Cognitive Science","year":2014,"id":41554,"datarank":0.627314656244506,"base_score":3.091042453358316,"endowment":3.091042453358316,"self_citation_contribution":0.4636563680037475,"citation_network_contribution":0.16365828824075854,"self_endowment_contribution":0.4636563680037475,"citer_contribution":0.16365828824075854,"corpus_percentile":null,"corpus_rank":null,"citation_count":21,"citer_count":20,"citers_with_citation_signal":9,"citers_with_endowment":9,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"is_dataset":false,"is_dataset_confidence":null,"is_data_producer":false,"deposit_databanks":null,"is_oa":false,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"has_version_chain":false,"published_date":null,"fair_score":null,"fair_percentile":null,"algorithm_id":"datarank_citation_only_1hop_v6","ranking_scope":"data_only","authors":[{"id":200037,"name":"Jakob Hohwy","orcid":null,"position":1,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":200036,"name":"Tim Bayne","orcid":null,"position":0,"is_corresponding":false}],"reference_count":0,"raw_metadata":{"has_enrichment":true,"base_score":3.091042453358316,"endowment":3.091042453358316,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"26304305","pmcid":null,"openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W1606687954","authors":[],"funders":[{"funder_name":"Arts and Humanities Research Council","grant_id":"AH/J007064/1","title":null},{"funder_name":"European Commission","grant_id":"313552","title":"The Architecture of Consciousness"},{"funder_name":"ARC Discovery Grant","grant_id":"","title":null},{"funder_name":"European Research Council","grant_id":"","title":null}],"total_grants":4,"fwci":0.6116,"citation_percentile":0.70073809,"influential_citations":1,"citation_trend":[{"year":2015,"count":2},{"year":2016,"count":1},{"year":2018,"count":14},{"year":2019,"count":1},{"year":2021,"count":1},{"year":2022,"count":1},{"year":2024,"count":1}],"oa_status":"closed","license":"Wiley Online Library User Agreement","oa_locations":[{"url":"https://api.wiley.com/onlinelibrary/tdm/v1/articles/10.1002%2Fwcs.1270","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://wires.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf/10.1002/wcs.1270","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://doi.org/10.1002/wcs.1270","host_type":"journal"},{"url":"https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26304305","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://research.manchester.ac.uk/en/publications/1b2af076-b715-4b89-b906-6da2dc0aa795","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"http://dx.doi.org/10.1002/wcs.1270","host_type":""},{"url":"https://dx.doi.org/10.1002/wcs.1270","host_type":""},{"url":"http://dx.doi.org/1939-5086","host_type":""}],"fields_of_study":["Traumatic Brain Injury Research","Psychosomatic Disorders and Their Treatments","Epilepsy research and treatment","Psychology","Medicine","03 medical and health sciences","0302 clinical medicine","05 social sciences","0501 psychology and cognitive sciences"],"mesh_terms":[],"keywords":["Ascription","Consciousness","Persistent vegetative state","Minimally conscious state","Consciousness Disorders","Altered state","Psychology","Level of consciousness","Cognition","Social consciousness","Cognitive science","Epistemology","Neuroscience","Psychotherapist","Philosophy"],"sdg_mappings":[{"sdg_number":2,"sdg_label":"2.
