{"doi":"10.1002/mrm.29451","title":"Ultra‐short T2 components imaging of the whole brain using 3D dual‐echo UTE MRI with rosette k‐space pattern","abstract":"Purpose This study aimed to develop a new 3D dual‐echo rosette k‐space trajectory, specifically designed for UTE MRI applications. The imaging of the ultra‐short transverse relaxation time (uT 2 ) of brain was acquired to test the performance of the proposed UTE sequence. Theory and Methods The rosette trajectory was developed based on rotations of a “petal‐like” pattern in the k x –k y plane, with oscillated extensions in the k z ‐direction for 3D coverage. Five healthy volunteers underwent 10 dual‐echo 3D rosette UTE scans with various TEs. Dual‐exponential complex model fitting was performed on the magnitude data to separate uT 2 signals, with the output of uT 2 fraction, uT 2 value, and long‐T 2 value. Results The 3D rosette dual‐echo UTE sequence showed better performance than a 3D radial UTE acquisition. More significant signal intensity decay in white matter than gray matter was observed along with the TEs. The white matter regions had higher uT 2 fraction values than gray matter (10.9% ± 1.9% vs. 5.7% ± 2.4%). The uT 2 value was approximately 0.10 ms in white matter . Conclusion The higher uT 2 fraction value in white matter compared to gray matter demonstrated the ability of the proposed sequence to capture rapidly decaying signals.","journal":"Magnetic Resonance in Medicine","year":2022,"id":249063,"datarank":0.0,"base_score":0.0,"endowment":0.0,"self_citation_contribution":0.0,"citation_network_contribution":0.0,"self_endowment_contribution":0.0,"citer_contribution":0.0,"corpus_percentile":null,"corpus_rank":null,"citation_count":29,"citer_count":0,"citers_with_citation_signal":0,"citers_with_endowment":0,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"is_dataset":false,"is_dataset_confidence":0.9484,"is_data_producer":false,"deposit_databanks":null,"is_oa":true,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"has_version_chain":false,"published_date":"2022-01-01","fair_score":null,"fair_percentile":null,"algorithm_id":"datarank_citation_only_1hop_v6","ranking_scope":"data_only","authors":[{"id":817951,"name":"Ali Çağlar Özen","orcid":"0000-0003-3536-0826","position":1,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":818623,"name":"Antonia Sunjar","orcid":null,"position":2,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":817952,"name":"Serhat İlbey","orcid":"0000-0002-3574-4320","position":3,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":268807,"name":"Stephen J.
