Determination and occurrence of traces of bromide in water","abstract":"<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>Practically no quantitative data are available as to the bromide content of water supplies in this country. Methods for the determination of small amounts of bromide in water are discussed; a variation of the D'Ans and Höfer method is described which gives reliable results when 0·05‐2·5 p.p.m. of bromine is present in waters of high organic purity. The method measures total bromine and iodine but it is believed that the iodide content will usually be negligible. The apparent bromide content of a number of underground supplies, chiefly in Southern England, is recorded.
