Crystals of <jats:bold>1b</jats:bold> are monoclinic, space group P2<jats:sub>1</jats:sub>/c, and crystals of <jats:bold>1c</jats:bold> are orthorhombic, space group P2<jats:sub>1</jats:sub>2<jats:sub>1</jats:sub>2<jats:sub>1</jats:sub>. The sulfinyl oxygen atom and the alkoxycarbonyl group in both compounds are trans oriented, and the six‐membered rings adopt a sofa conformation.
