{"doi":"10.1002/ctpp.70069","title":"<scp> NH <sub>3</sub> </scp> Plasma Treatment of <scp>PTFE</scp> Produces Changes in Surface Wettability and Elemental Composition","abstract":"ABSTRACT Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) film surfaces are treated with radio frequency NH 3 plasma under varying power, pressures, and exposure times to assess primary amine incorporation, surface wettability, and chemical composition. Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy with attenuated total reflectance (FTIR‐ATR) analysis reveals that plasma modification did not result in primary amine group implantation on the PTFE surface, confirmed by the Orange II colorimetric assay. Water contact angle measurements demonstrate increased wettability for all treated films compared to untreated ones. x‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis indicates that plasma treatment results in a reduction of surface fluorine, an increase in carbon content, and the introduction of nitrogen‐ and oxygen‐containing functional groups.
