The characteristics of this patient that are likely to be linked to the use of recreational drugs are self-neglect, agitated state, and close association with other psychiatric illness, social issues and dangerous behaviours. The chapter also contains the definition, aetiopathogenesis, diagnosis, clinical features, management, prognosis, and a world/transcultural view of recreational drugs. Recreational drug use is linked to multiple health problems and other health risk behaviours such as alcohol dependence.
