Ethical issues in risk communication can be divided into three areas: social ethics, organizational ethics, and personal ethics. Social ethics comprise the code of conduct by which society judges our behavior. Besides the societal scheme of ethics, agencies and corporations have their own organizational ethics. Organizational ethical issues relate to how that code handles such things as the legitimacy of representation, designation of primary audience, release of information, and attitude toward compliance with regulations. Another area that must be considered is your own personal ethics.
