{"doi":"10.1002/0471667196.ess7003","title":"Assessment Bias","abstract":"<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title>\n          <jats:p>\n            Assessment bias in a clinical trial arises if there is bias in the assessment of the outcome. It is also called\n            <jats:italic>ascertainment bias, diagnostic bias</jats:italic>\n            , or\n            <jats:italic>detection bias</jats:italic>\n            <jats:ext-link xmlns:xlink=\"http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink\" xlink:href=\"#ess7003-bib-0003\"/>\n            . A major cause of assessment bias is lack of blinding.
